Kasongan Ceramic – If you come to the city of Yogyakarta, spend your time to visit Kasongan village. Located not far from the city center, only 9km to the south. To know more closer to the center of the village industries Kasongan, walking is the best choice because we can enter into the parts of the process of making ceramics. Starting from clay processing, model building, until the burning and staining. In the village Kasongan we can see tens or even hundreds of tiles laid out neatly at the local grocery store.
History of Kasongan Ceramic
During Dutch colonial rule, there was a very disturbing incident to local residents, because it found a horse owned by Dutch detective died on land owned by residents. Residents are very scared and no one dared to admit the land, and it is followed by other villagers. Land that has been released finally recognized and other populated, as a result they do not have agricultural land there again. Locals, eventually chose to become potters for livelihoods and furniture until now. Kasongan Kajen mountain hamlets located in low and earthy limestone. Until now Kasongan village is famous for its pottery and have export quality.
Basically, the pottery-making process can be divided into two parts, namely a way to print in large quantities or directly by hand. The process of making pottery by using a hand on a cylindrical, made by adding little by little on clay and placed on a spot that can be played.
